Malua was the most versatile Australian Thoroughbred racehorse in history. Malua won over distances ranging from 5 1⁄2 furlongs to 3 1⁄4 miles (1,100 – 5,200 metres). This was an extraordinary horse that was able to carry heavy weights and defeat the best racehorses in top sprint and staying races. A memorial to Malua was erected and opened in October 2009 in the Deloraine Museum, in the town where he was born. ~ Wikipedia
