The Legacy of the Dulles Brothers: Stephen Kinzer

“Washington Dulles International Airport …Opened in 1962, it is named after John Foster Dulles (1888–1959), the 52nd U.S. Secretary of State who served under President Dwight D. Eisenhower.”

Obviously an important figure in American history, I first learned of John Foster Dulles (and his brother) when reading the book:
The Secret War Against the Jews: How Western Espionage Betrayed the Jewish People
while in Jerusalem in 2005.

Back then, I had the thought that the book was mis-titled. It should really have been named “The de-prioritization (expendability?) of Israel in the face of advancing oil interests.”

Perhaps this leads to the notion that a Jew, Israeli (or both) may feel like they are being attacked, but they are in fact being de-prioritised (possibly strongly) in the backdrop of larger interests. And with perceived attack comes retaliation.
